Merry Poinsettia

Remember this card?  I was short on ideas for a card.  I knew I wanted to either use some of my paper from the December 2012 Kit Club kit, or use a stamp from this Unity set I asked for this past Christmas (and barely used yet).  As luck would have it the daisy card inspired a poinsettia card. :)

It is a wicked girly card and aren't they fun to make?!?!  This most certainly has to go to a gal and I'm thinking I can send this one to my gram or DH's cousin who'll be in England this year.  It's always nice to get mail, especially when you are a long ways from home, and getting pretty mail is a bonus! :)

The sentiment is from PTI and Unity made the poinsettia (and snowflake stamped in pink on the card base).  I'm off to an appointment for Cad, but if you'd like to know more about the papers or copics feel free to leave me a question in the comments. :)

'Cause I almost missed her! We came back from vacation and I went to do a little gardening (poor garden has been a we bit neglected lately). Nose buried in plants, I looked up and was far to close to Charlotte here. Trust me when I say she is larger than a silver dollar. It seems she eats like a horse too. I've seen her down rather large dragonflies in a couple hours. I'm really, really hoping she's not "eating for 200". She's useful (when she isn't eating my dragonflies), but I'm gonna freak if I see hatchlings when I'm letting the dog do his business.

She's a pretty harmless garden spider, unless you frighten her then she'll give you a nice welt I'm told, so I'll of course leave her be.  I messed her web by accident before I saw her and tried to get a video of her remaking her web.  It really was magical- and freaky.  Each time I got within 8 feet of her with my camera she froze.  That was kinda freaky to me.  I mean really.  8 FEET!!!!!  How the heck far can she see?!?!?!?

Cupcakes or Sailing?

So should would you rather have cupcakes or go sailing?  Maybe combine the two?  My DH has gotten seasick before so we joke about him wanting to get a boat.  This year for his birthday I got him a boat...planter.  And a boat...card. ;D

I haven't any pictures of the "boat" yet, actually it is a dory, cause we need to seal it first so it can sit outside with plants in it and not get wrecked by September.  We also thought it might be fun to paint a name on the side of the dory and we can't decide what pithy name to give to her. Any suggestions?

The stamp is Boat Cupcake from Impression Obsession and you can find one here if you like. :)

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

August Joy

Good Morning Peeps!   Thought I would share a Christmas card I made for the stash.  I didn't quite make my July goal, but I am continuing to plug along.  Every card done is one less for later right?

I pulled out some scraps I had that matched this luscious ribbon I got a few weeks back.  Y-U-M is all I can say. :)  This was an effort to once again channel Tim Gunn's "make it work" mantra.  I wanted to use the scraps and I wanted to make a card with lots of fun patterned layers.  I think I might need more of the plain red to ground the card base and white/kraft chevron, but other than that the card came out pretty "joyous" I think. LOL!

Okay folks, it is August already.  I don't want to panic anyone, so I won't actually put the number of days until Christmas- it is only a few short months though.  How are you doing on your cards?  Anyone out there have gifts already?

Happy Bouquet

Happy Monday Folks!  We are enjoying some time up in Maine this week with the fam, so for me it is a happy start to the week. :)

I've switched from all those sun related creations of the last couple weeks back to my daisy obsession. LOL!  I managed to find one lone package of the old style of Wilson cupcake doilies.  I wish they had kept this design.  I'm not a big fan of the new version I've had to get at JoAnn's and Michael's. :(

This card gave me a good excuse to ease myself back into using my copics again.  I realized I haven't used them much lately and the book I am reading with my tutoring student got me back into them.  The main character likes to draw and just got a new package of colored pencils- the large pack- and she was so excited to have so many colors it got me thinking about all the colors of copics I have been ignoring.  A little wonky on my lines when you look up close, but overall I like the final product.

Have a great week peeps!

Walden Pond circa 2004

Oh my goodness where have the last 2 weeks gone?!?  I was all set to share this layout with y'all last week, but life totally got in the way.  Sorry about that!

Today is an awesome day to share this layout.  It is a magically perfect summer day.  70's with a light breeze and fantastically low humidity.  The kinda day where you can wear whatever you like and not be too hot or too cold. :)  Kinda like the autumn day when this pictures were taken by our friend Jeff.  He took the pictures at our wedding and each year since he has taken pictures of us. :)  His photography skills are spectacular and can be seen in their glory on his wife's blog Olives for Dinner.

When I saw the background paper it made me think of this photo shoot.  I knew I was going to have to actually put together a 12x12 layout- and for a change I didn't take forever to do it!!! :D  I'm also crushing on all things nautical, so I was thrilled to finally use the dies I got from MFT (an embarrassingly long time ago!)

What have you gotten accomplished lately that make you proud of yourself?  Don't say nothing!  I know you have done something fabulous big, or small, that made you happy with yourself.  Share it below.  I love inspiration!!!
